Exceptional Craftsmanship & Attention to Detail

Seated amongst the stunning Cumbrian landscape, Wynn Griffiths & Tarr combine traditional approaches with modern techniques to provide the exceptional craftsmanship they have become known for, ensuring customers are confident that their furniture is in safe hands.

Our Values

With conservation and furniture restoration work, there is always the need to weigh up “How far do I go with this?” While some companies may aim to restore an object to look as close to new as possible, the principles guiding any conservation project at Wynn Griffiths and Tarr are:

Minimal Intervention

Here at Wynn Griffiths & Tarr, we believe that the main goal of conservation and furniture restoration work is to preserve as much of the original, historic material as possible.

Sustainability

When presented with our customer’s furniture, we assess what treatments will be appropriate for the object, while also ensuring that any treatments are reversible where possible.

Historical Significance

We believe that as conservators and furniture restorers, it is our duty to ensure that we treat our customer’s objects with the attention and care that they deserve, with our treatments reflecting the object’s history and significance.

A wealth of skills, knowledge and experience are enabling John and Josh to bring back to life our furniture damaged by fire and water – and their kindness and sympathetic approach is going a long way to heal our heartbreak, too! To see them clambering through the charred debris to rescue everything possible raised our spirits – and it is wonderful to see furniture we feared lost beyond hope emerge glowing from their workshop.
